Barking is where the Roding gives up and the Thames takes over. Creekmouth, Rippleside, Thames View, the Gascoigne estate, Barking Riverside — industrial, new flats, and a town centre that still has a market in it.
Route notes
A406 south or the A13 if we are already on the river road. Barking Riverside is a long last mile of new road that sat-nav still draws as a field. Creekmouth is yards and HGV; tell us if you are a van among lorries so we know the surface. The town centre car parks are simpler. We are not coming from a depot in Barking. There is not one.
