London City Airport's last half-mile is dock road, not flyover. Silvertown, the Royal Docks, ExCeL, Custom House, Canning Town, North Woolwich, Pontoon Dock — this is the district that still thinks like a port even when it is an exhibition centre.
Route notes
A13 then the dock spine. City Airport has its own rules about where a van can stand; we work the drop-off and the car parks, not the taxi rank as a workshop. ExCeL on show days is a different city. The Silvertown Tunnel approach has already taught us that 'just after the roundabout' needs a name. North Woolwich is the old ferry end, quieter, further than it looks.
