Wivenhoe is the river town with a station. Brightlingsea is the other river town without a useful train. Dedham is the Constable one. Alresford, Ardleigh, Elmstead Market, Frating, Great Bentley, Great Bromley, Thorrington — the Tendring edge of what we cover.
Route notes
A12 then A133, or through Colchester to Wivenhoe. Brightlingsea is a dead-end on purpose; the creek is the point. Dedham is pretty and tight and full when the weather is. Wivenhoe's quay is not a dual carriageway. Great Bentley has a green you should not occupy. From Loughton this is the far east. We come. We do not talk as if it is Clacton; Clacton is not on our list.
